Aloha Junk Man is Bringing People Together Through Community Service

There isn’t a lot of fame or status in the junk hauling business. But there is a whole lot of heart, especially when Aloha Junk Man is on the job.

There is a difference between doing a job and serving a purpose. The Aloha Junk Man Team was created with the intention of serving the people and community of Oahu.

They understand you don’t have to move mountains or donate piles of cash or even give away all your free time to serve others. You just have to embrace your community and take a bigger role in its well-being.

Setting an Example

Aloha Junk Man and its team work hard to serve the people of Oahu and surrounding areas like Pearl City, Kapolei, Kailua, Kaneohe, Honolulu, Mililani and others throughout the island. When they are called to haul away a house full of junk, they see an opportunity to:

Reduce landfills
Reduce burnable waste
Recycle unusable items
Leave a smaller environmental imprint
Donate to local ministries
Donate to people in need

Some organizations that benefit from their generosity include Oxford House, Sky Kombucha, Goodwill and Salvation Army. Non-profit donations of time go to 808 CLEANUPS and K-Vibe.

Aloha Junk Man takes every opportunity to serve their community and just one small gesture can yield big results. For example, someone saw a pile of debris and junk illegally dumped on the side of the road. The disgusted person called up Aloha to see if they could help haul it away. The team made time to drive over and not only did they clean up the trash, but they also paid out of their own pockets for the dump run. Their commitment to the island and the community was expressed by their willingness to serve the community not with their words, but with their actions.

Taking the time and effort to value the island and the people who live there creates a space in which people can come together.

Why Serve the Community?

You may think you don’t have the time to serve. Maybe you don’t like to volunteer or maybe you are uncomfortable around strangers. But community service is fundamental to the development of society and it is often through volunteering that a community is formed and becomes a family.

Serving creates an awareness and understanding of other people’s plights or good fortunes. It develops an intrinsic value system and creates a sense of wellness by letting you become a part of something that is larger than yourself.

It is human nature to want to be loved, to want to feel valued, and to want to be both needed and appreciated. When you serve you actively improve on yourself and you serve as a role model for others.

People follow the leader. If the leader demonstrates how easy it is to make a positive change in the world, others will follow.

Aloha Junk Man is a role model in the community; they serve others from a place of devotion to something that is greater than themselves.
